Millea Living is a pioneering family of home products that offer comfort and assistance paired with elevated design.
A salesman, father, and inventor of all sorts of things people didn’t know that they needed, Jackie Millea’s father, Jerry, stood proud at 6-foot-4 until a life-changing stroke left him a quadriplegic in his 40s. His family soon had to adapt to the overwhelming challenge of the full-time care and assistance that he would need the rest of his life.
With the help of his family, friends, and neighbors, he pieced together a system of clinical devices and homemade inventions so that he could thrive at home. These beds, slings, chairs, ramps and other devices filled their home for 24 years until they were shared with other people after his passing.
Jackie, an award-winning architect and designer, was torn between the sadness of having the products that were associated with her beloved father gone and the fact they were awful! She asked, “Why do these products have to be so ugly? Why can’t they feel more like home?”
Jackie started to sketch. Her ideas focused on design-forward, coordinated items that people would be proud to have in their home. Yes they had assistive purposes, but they were also well-designed.
This aspiration turned into a reality: Millea Living, an innovative line of purposefully designed products that empower you to live your active, independent life and still be uniquely you.

Jackie earned her Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota after 15+ years of interior design practice. Jackie is pursuing a greater understanding of how design can better our wellness and our overall health, relationships and communities.
